Thrifty Life Thursday #36 with Features from Last Week, and a Very Cool Feature for Yours Truly!

This week, I've gotten maybe a third of the way through my vintage industrial/fancy French living room revision. It's been really, really fun...even more than I had imagined.

This is the area in front of the only window in the room...which is naked. On purpose.

I moved the trunk that used to be the coffee table there. On top of it, there are currently a few items that may or may not stay...but one thing I like is the lamp. I spray painted it mustard. At first, I didn't like it. It looked too slick, but not really glossy or shiny enough to look "mod." In this living room, it needed to be distressed.

So I attacked it with a piece of sand paper and it was much better.

Both the shade and the lamp are thrift store purchases.

Most recently, it looked like this:

Before that, it looked like this for about 5 minutes:

Even before that, it looked like this:

Gotta love the thrift that keeps on giving...

Before I show you the 4 (yes, it was a hard, hard week to pick, and there was a really good reason for 4 picks...) features this week...

I have to share.  I was honored to be Vintage Blog of the Week at Adirondack Girl @ Heart!
Diana did in-depth digging around my blog...and shared stuff I had forgotten about. It was so kind and encouraging, I seriously asked her if her day job was in public relations!

Diana has a great eye for thrift store finds, and she shares information as well as her pricing on items she finds and sells. You definitely don't find many bloggers who are that open regarding the pricing, and I get it, prices vary by region, but still, it is refreshing. Check out her post on vintage crackle glass...very informative.

She features a new vintage blogger each week, as well as a collectible item, a faith post, and her weekly finds. If you haven't visited yet, you're in for a treat! Thanks, Diana, for the honor of being your featured blogger this week. :)

This weeks Thrifty Life Thursday features include another surprising feature by Audrey from Timeless Treasures... (Why do I continue to be surprised by this dynamo? I should just assume it is something great and go on, right?)

I kid you not...I opened the link (the very last one at the party), started reading, and began laughing out loud...from pure joy and amazement!

She can take a random pile of her cool, thrifted junk and put it all together, including wiring, spray paint it a pretty color, and make something totally surprising and wonderful! A SOLAR CHANDELIER. Anthropologie would want to sell it for a zillion dollars.

The clincher? It is for her secret garden. She grows tomatoes, pumpkins and things...Lord, give me energy and creativity like Audrey! And, she's doing this in the middle of a MAJOR bathroom renovation. It takes me weeks to rearrange my living room...

SOMETIMES, your steps get ordered in a way that seems like more than a coincidence. The next two features are sort of like that...

Cindy, from Consider it all Joy, shared a furniture makeover that turned out really nice. (She genderizes her furniture projects, too...) I emailed her and told her I wanted to feature it.

Pretty, right? She uses it in her dining room for table linen storage. Then, I read another post, and found something in it that Cindy needs for her sweet piece...

Dianne, from Deanie's Stash ALWAYS finds stuff I have never seen anywhere before. This week, she had vintage candy vending machines, erector sets, type writers, shaker lids...yes, plural.

She ALWAYS shares truly awe-inspiring vintage finds. And then I saw these...

And I had only JUST seen this at Cindy's blog...

So I wondered if I might do a little match-making...and maybe these girls could barter...

Last but never least, Vickie from Ranger 911 posted about an adorably quirky, pink vintage clock she found recently.

Then she added the singing birds, and her dad's pink wool baby booties...I am turning all mushy inside from the charm! But wait...there's more!

This eclectic vignette includes several more components...one of them is an adopted ancestor...in the form of a vintage framed photo of a little girl. The near-scowl on that pretty little face was the icing on this tasty 4-layer cake!

Kudos, everyone, for your originality, creativity, resourcefulness and kindness. You add value to this life...though we have not met in person. I look forward to seeing what you bring next week!

      Word for the Day:
      Hebrews 10:24-25
      24
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see
      the Day drawing near.

Revi, thank you for the feature. I will have to see if I can get a caster to her so she will have enough. :o) I love the lamp. The end result was so much better than any of the other stages it went through! A wonderful transformation that will have a much longer life!

      Hugs, Dianne

      WTG on your feature!!!!
I love what she did with that chandelier. I've been working with solar lights here this week.. I am trying to make "Harry Potter" floating candles that I don't have to turn on and off. : ) I may just have to find some old chandeliers. : )
      Have a great day!!!

Amazing what a little paint and a "Riva attack" with some sandpaper will do. Beautiful shaped lamp ... love it !!! So glad you are having fun with redecorating. I don't blush very easily, but really blushing with all the sweet comment on my solar chandelier. Thanks for the feature and as always for inviting us to the party every week. Fun and interesting people come to your party. Oh yes, congratulations on the well deserved featured by Diana Petrillo.
      Blessings,
