August Living Room Tour...

Easy summer switcharoo...a couple of hours max.
I know I had mentioned doing a summer living room, adding aqua to my neutral room...but I procrastinated.

Then, I did an aqua painting

And yesterday, when I was dusting and sweeping, I thought...why not? After all, it's just the little things...the things that are the most fun, anyway.

Swap a gray saucer for a turquoise one...tweak a gallery wall...or two.

So I dug my boxes of aqua and green things out from under the bed in the middle bedroom and indulged myself with some decorating therapy.

I really like this French chair next to the industrial bookshelf...and the aqua is a nice change.

At first, I thought I might not have enough aqua accents...but it came together.

The shelves barely changed, except for the removal of deconstructed books and addition of aqua and light blue ones.

A few small vintage aqua vases and ceramics were mixed in here and there.

The trunk coffee table got new items as well...

A vintage tray and aqua glass bottles I have been collecting when I find them at thrift stores...

Along with vintage books. Now, you can sit on the sofa, and teach yourself a little French.

The mantel got tweaked as well...

The pretty glass marble below is one of my son Ethan's first glass pieces.

The metal lantern thing with the lovely patina was the front porch light when I first moved in. The wiring was shot, but I loved the look of it, so I kept it.

Pretty much everything you see is collected over years from thrift stores and garage sales.

Some of it has been painted white by yours truly.
The table in front of the window holds an old bird feeder and a small collection of turquoise antique glass insulators

I love the way they catch the light...

Next to the table is the small gallery wall, which was tweaked from its radiant violet incarnation. I painted a new small piece for a pop of aqua.

You haven't seen this lamp before...at least I don't think so. I saw it at a thrift store, and paid more than I usually like to pay...$5. (Without the shade.)

Now, I need a few cute pillows...like that's going to happen.
Even if I buy cute fabric, I procrastinate with sewing projects.

They really would finish it off, though...
And I'd need at least one more for here:

The white bench gallery wall got tweaked as well.

Before long, this piece will move to another room.
But for now, it stays, with aquatic tweaks.

There is ONE new piece in the room...

It was a couple of bucks on the 80 percent off aisle at Hobby Lobby.

That wraps up my August living room tour...and I'm glad I did it, even if it will change before October. Change is good for the spirit - refreshing.

Price for a refreshing aqua living room redo: about $4 for a spool of aqua ribbon and an 80 percent off box. Time invested: 2 hours.

You've made a lot of impact with just a few changes! I love the aqua blue, I have a little in my living room as an accent. I am in love with the porch light fixture you kept, that was smart~

Loved visiting, Revi!

Revi, your aqua touches look super, and those books really look esp. great. I've been reorganizing and purging stuff in my basement as a project. This weekend I gathered all my cottage aquas and yellows together so they're at least in one tub, and that's progress! I switched up my sunroom this past week. Two hours can really make a difference in a room's look! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Your living room is so calming with the soft white and little touches of aqua. Every one of your vignettes is just as charming as can be. Thanks for the inspiration. I'd need a lot longer than 2 hours to make my living room look this fresh.

Things I would steal, er, want, if I lived near you. The aqua lamp, the wood box with handle, the French chair, the glass insulators, and the French textbook. I really would walk right out with that under my shirt. Actually I would have to wear a cape to get everything out without you noticing. Time well-spent, my friend, the room is so classic and serene and has your personality written all over it. A good thing.

Two hours well spent my friend. Love the new fresh look and the pops of green, blue and aqua. Your aqua painting is a keeper. I would love to bring more color in my living room too. I redid the mantel with green/aqua bottles and so far it is okay. Just need to put some finishing touches on it.
have a great Sunday.

I am lovin' your beautiful choice of color. I, too, am adding turquoise to my home.
Excuse me now while I go thru all my books for turquoise, green and blue ones. I need to work on my mantel. Yours is so pretty.

Just beautiful! I would kill for a trunk to use as a coffee table. :) Love the table and the chair is perfect. Adding the touches of aqua makes a huge difference I think when one uses neutrals. Love the color!

Revi, it looks beautiful! Aqua is my favorite accent color! I have a collection of bottles and pull them out often. I even like aqua in my Fall displays. Love the picnic type basket under your table and that new Hobby Lobby find is fabulous! I just came from there. Checked out the clearance isles as usual, but nothing good at ours today. Wondering what aqua paint you used on the frame? I really like the shade.

Jann

Sounds like a fun day to me! First of all, I love that you got that amazing lamp for $5.00!! It's large and beautiful. All of your collected accessories add up to a fresh new look. I love it!

I just started added some aqua to my house this summer. It took me forever to get up the nerve because I've always used red and deeper colors. I'm loving the mix though.

Love your space - you've done a wonderful job with it.

You know I bet there is an etsy sewing person who would gladly barter/trade with you so you could get your pillows without spending money.......we all need to do more bartering for our wares instead of always spending.....the way we ALL win with our talents.

Have a happy weekend.
