Thrifty Life Thursday #8 and Radiant Orchid

I have been working madly - though not posting much.

It just happens that way sometimes when you decide to practically redo two or three rooms in your house in order to welcome spring - all because you were inspired one tiny sample pot of paint from Lowe's...

What? Radiant Orchid in my white, gray, neutral, no color allowed house?

After spending almost two years painting everything in my path some shade of white or greige, am I suddenly changing camps and painting everything in living color again?

Well, yes and no. I painted a lot more white stuff last weekend than radiant orchid, but I must say, I am pretty excited about using this color to punch up my neutral home.

Here is a first look at one way I have used this yummy color...

Here is  a small painting - originally from a thrift store.

First, I added texture and painted it in neutrals. (See the before and neutral re-do HERE.)

A few days ago, I decided this would be a great way to add a pop of radiant orchid, so I tweaked it. You can do that with your own art. When I decide to change, I can tweak it again.
Here is another small piece - same story - on the same small gallery wall:

Here is the same wall as it looked last Friday...minus the pumpkins!

Here it is again with radiant violet tweaks, switching out metals for whites. EVERYTHING except the angel, the small white cross and the small mirror to the right of it was purchased at a thrift store. The tall skinny mirror was $3, the 4 was .50c, the two paintings were under .87c each, the cross was under $5 on half price at Hobby Lobby, the angel was $12 years ago on vacation in San Antonio, the large Frenchy mirror was way less than $5 - I bought it at a church garage sale where everything you can stick in a grocery bag costs $5. The small square mirror was purchased with a gift certificate from my work - so free. The whole gallery wall cost less than $30, including the sample pot of radiant orchid.

Here are the amazingly fabulous features from Thrifty Life Thursday #7 last week!

Linda's kitchen revision is a thing of beauty! Not only are her details lovely, I do not think I have EVER seen so many clever ideas in one post...thanks, Linda!

Hop over to Itsy Bits and Pieces and see for yourself!

Kimm and her husband puzzled this awesome hallway table out together, using found objects in a unique and whimsical way! OK, Kimm...Now I want one...and you will as well.

Check it out at Reinvented.

If contrasting an elegant, vintage silver tray with an industrial cart coffee table makes your heart go pitter-patter, you're going to LOVE Susan's "Tray Chic" style!

Must Love Junk is a must-see for anyone who likes cool vintage junk. (Bonus: she's one of the most courteous bloggers out there!)

If diamonds are a girl's best friend...vintage rhinestone brooches/ring box lids are certainly invited to the party!

Patti and Paula have some of the most unusual, elegant collections of items I never knew existed, until I read about them at Ivy and Elephants. Bonus: Sometimes you even get a mini-history lesson!

      Hi Revi
Just found your wonderful blog. I love the hunt for thrift and flea market "trash to treasures" and then transforming them with my own style. I'm linking up my most recent transformation of a vintage stool. Now following you on Bloglovin & Pinterest.

You will be starting a trend, Revi! The pop of color looks so pretty and fresh. That's what I love about a neutral foundation: add any color any time!! Enjoy the weekend, L

That little bit of colour really adds a lovely touch. Colour can be scary on walls because it never quite goes on like we imagine. Love the frames you have on the wall. Thanks for allowing us to share our creativity as well!

Wow what a nice update with just a bit of color change. Love the idea to keep the wall and change the color from time to time. Stay warm Sunday my Texas friend.
