Old and New Treasures

Old and new together always excites me. An old frame with a contemporary art piece is totally up my alley!

This small piece is vintage - a great little wooden frame.
It was painted with ships. I considered keeping it as is, however seascapes are not my thing. Maybe because I'm 700 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

Oh, I like them in other people's homes... they're just not MY thing. Non-objective is my thing. It's the art major showing.

Painted in ASCP French Linen, with some of the original gilding peeking out - this look is way more my thing.

The painting is mixed media acrylic, painted right over the existing wood panel seascape print. I like knowing it's there.
Is that weird? If so, I guess I'm a tad weird. Hello...art major.

But I KNOW some of you are weird in the same way as me.
And that gives me a little comfort. I like that about blogging.

So here's to old and new all mixed together, multiple layers and hidden pasts, renewal, and sweet, sweet blog friends!

Word for the Day:
Matthew 13:52
And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”

Ooh I really love the redo! Did you paint the frame in Annie Sloane paint too? I have some great frames with less than stellar artwork in them that I was dying to rework- thanks so much for sharing!
