Such a Time as This

Recently, while digging for buried treasure
in my garage, I found this print. It is a print by Louis Sullivan.

It's on translucent paper - sort of like a thin vellum
It is a print of a pencil drawing, so there's not a lot of contrast
It was hard to try to get a nice photo of it.
I was able to photograph the paper that was with it, though.

I actually found this print in another garage of a house we lived in
years ago. I kept it, thinking, "Someday I'll have a
different look - a room where this will work."

At the time, I had rich color - primitive art, folk art, rustic things.
It obviously was not a great fit. Then, I mellowed my style
and used deeper color - blacks, reds, golds, and greens.

Still, I'd be rummaging around sometimes and find
this charming print and dream of a neutral room.

Now, I have that room I dreamed of...or at least the beginning of it.
Things are white and gray and textural and neutral and  rusty industrial
and elegantly ornate and vintage. And this piece will work well.

Now, I need to go back into the garage to see
if I have a frame that will fit...and maybe a piece of glass...

This little print was waiting patiently for such a time as this.

Word for the Day:

Esther 4:14

When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message:
"Don't think that just because you live in the king's house you're the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows?
Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this."

When I read your post I assumed that you were a Minnesota girl, as Louis Sullivan is famous for his Bank bldg in Owatonna. It was placed on the Natl Historic Register in 1976. It's an amazing bldg! Barbara in Mn
