A while back, I found this old medical bag.
I paid more for it than I usually would pay for something in a thrift store, even thought the condition was not great.
I still don't know why I decided to buy it, except that the craftsmanship was really wonderful. Before it became damaged, it was a well-made piece.
The inside is in great shape, but the outside is in tatters.
Still, it spoke to me.
I had no idea what to do with it, but since I'd bought it, I felt obligated to do SOMETHING. So I asked your help.
Many of you suggested roses. You've probably noticed, I am not much of a rose kind of girl. (I have a brown thumb. If I were to buy myself flowers, I'd get purple Irises, or maybe a wildflower mix or something. Flowers are not really my thing.)
But the idea of using it as a container for a plant was appealing. So, I went to Hobby Lobby and looked for some real-looking faux plant.
I really wanted an asparagus fern or something wispy, but they were plastic. So, the airplane plant was my choice. It was on 50 percent off, too.
It adds that little unexpected junk-turned-precious element I like so much.
Any other good ideas for the bag? I like your ideas, even if I tweak them a bit to accommodate my brown thumb, plain Jane ways. Really.
