Industrial Arts...

A new painting and an industrial-elegant vignette...

Show of hands...how many of you like collage as much as I do?

I know you're out there...I've seen your work...and I love it.

Here's my latest piece - actually a reworked piece from a decade ago.

Do you recognize anything here?

It's canvas wrapped around wood, painted with acrylic,
with gold leaf, graphite and found objects including
a rusty brake, a stainless machined metal piece,
an aluminium disc, an erector set piece (pierced metal)
and a piece of rusty, crusty tin or steel.

I like this piece resting inside the faux French frame...

I flanked it with some deconstructed books,
another faux topiary, a rusty finial, and the little bird I freed
from a rusty cage on one side...

...a faux mercury glass lamp with a drum shade,
a forged bronze candlestick,
a vintage flower frog and an iron or bronze
whatchamacallit on the other side.

( Did you notice how many times I said faux,
rusty, iron and bronze? Hmmmm.)

It's funny how one new piece can call for
a completely new rearrangement of
things to make a new vignette.

Everything in this vignette was either made by me
or it was found in a thrift store or at a garage sale.

One thing sticks out, though. The faux topiary.
I wrapped the stick in green floral tape.
I need some brown tape. Do they make that?
The green looks BAAAAD.
Sorry, I hope you get the general idea.
But green floral tape was not really the
little pop of color I was intending...

Have you noticed how I always promise to
fix something and show you a better
version at a later date? Well, yes.
I hope to do that in this case as well.

Maybe I'll do a post of
"Afters and After-Afters:
The revised, improved afters."

And you'll be the first to know. :)

Word for the Day:
Joshua 6:19
But all silver and gold, and every vessel of bronze and iron,
are holy to the LORD; they shall go into the treasury of the LORD.”

I didn't even notice the green floral tape until you mentioned it.
I did notice the mention of the word 'faux'... I'm a nerd, like that.

I guess some of the other things spoke to me louder than the green tape! maybe that is why I have a hard time putting it all together. I don't pay enough attention to the details.

I like your collage...metal artwork..thing! I like how you have it displayed too.
Sort of reminds me of a clock.
Like... it has so much going for it; that it could be a stand alone piece!

take care, Pat

I like the unique look you gave it! ...and yes...when I change one thing, it always calls for changing everything else!

I didn't notice the tape. Love the collage...quite interesting trinkets on it. What I'd love to know is how you change the lamp...assuming you did. :-) It really is beautiful and I'm on the lookout for a lamp for my bedroom.
