Aaaaarrrrgh.

Let me apologize for my non-enthusiastic state of mind.

I'm in a place where my middle bedroom revamp has ceased to be fun, after breaking down the bed for the third time. I feel like Goldilocks, for Pete's sake!

The first bed was too big. (They didn't make queen-sized beds when my home was built.) Bedside tables are a must-have!

The second bed was too warped. The antique iron bed from England, that I have owned for 30 years, which was always slightly warped, is now warped enough to make it an uncomfortable place to sleep.

What am I, Goldilocks or the Princess from The Princess and the Pea? How long has it been that way? (Hannah, sweet, my apologies. You should have said something!)

Now, I have a mattress on a Hollywood bed frame, but no box spring. (The antique bed was not made for a box spring, either - just wooden slats and a mattress.)

For the third mattress moving escapade, I broke down the bed, took away the warped rails and the foot board, and set up the Hollywood frame with the wood slats, and some of those plastic risers from Bed, Bath and Beyond. It will suffice temporarily. I propped the head board against the wall.

A week later, I removed the headboard, which had scuffed the newly-painted wall a bit, and moved it to the garage for future repair - new rails.

For my FOURTH bed fiasco, I will attempt to make a padded headboard from one I grabbed from beside a dumpster. It's actually a foot board, which I hope to rework into a headboard.

Lovely, right? It's JUST the foundation. It will be covered with layers of foam, batting and drop cloth. I can see it in my mind's eye...

I still need to purchase or make a new dust ruffle and a new duvet. Sewing is not my strong suit. I PAINT things.

On top of my big, total-house mess, my dryer broke a couple of weeks ago. Aaaaarrrrgh.

Trips to the laundromat are not fun. I can only air dry so much stuff. I need to put some things back together before I have another dryer delivered.

It's SEPTEMBER, which means Thanksgiving is pretty much next week. And I'm in the biggest mess EVER.

All I really want to do is finish with the furniture moving and settle into furniture painting, decorating and maybe a little simple sewing here and there.

I have a "French" style chest of drawers that will move to the bedroom. It will be painted white. (My English oak chest that needs repair will move to the art room.)

The black and white theme is history, since the antique iron bed is now residing in the garage. The 7 table is out of there, too.

I'm sticking with a variety of whites for all the furniture, bedding, draperies, etc. I plan to use a bit of color - greens for now. I tried using aquas, which are pretty, but just spoke summer to me, and it's fall this week. I love fall. So aquas will be packed away until spring.

Instead, I'm going for a variety of greens - from chartreuse to olive. Maybe teal.

At least that's the plan for now. If recent history repeats itself, it may change tomorrow. Lord help me, I just hope no more furniture moving will be involved.

Now, to unpack those green things, and put away the aquas for a while...

Revi, I would be so frustrated, too!!
I'm sure your headboard will turn out great and hopefully you'll get things how you want them and can relax! :)

Wow -- it's the Perils of Pauline at your house -- but look at it this way: It can only get better from here on in, right?

Aqua may speak Summer, but it speaks Fall very well if you pair it with touches of orange. Just in case you have some lurking around ....

Too bad about that beautiful old iron bed; what a shame!

Hi Revi, I feel your frustration. I'm in the middle of redoing our dining room and I just want it to be done now. Sigh. That chest will look lovely painted. Thanks so much for sharing at Silver Pennies Sundays! x

OH Boy! I understand completely. I am excited to see what you pull together. I know it will be stunning and we'll all gush over it.
I don't paint, I sew! Too bad we aren't closer :)
Take care!
