White Spring Mantel

This post has been in the works for a while...
Actually, this post was going to be called 'EARLY SPRING' mantel. But, hey, it's not OFFICIALLY spring yet, so I'm good...right?

I had even given myself a rule - Keep it fresh. Use nothing that I have used in other of my mantels during the past year.

As you view this mantel, please try not to think about the Christmas items that are still being sorted and packed in the next room...

Sometimes I wish I weren't quite so OCD about organizing things. I organize, because want it to be easy to bring out next year.

Just tossing things into boxes is not how I prefer to do it, though at the moment, I'm wondering why I don't - just this once. After all, Resurrection day is coming.

You see, I work full time...and do organizing, home improvements and that sort of thing on Saturdays, along with cleaning.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you how amazingly busy my Saturdays have been for the past 6 weeks...

I don't mean to sound like I'm grumbling, because I truly enjoyed every birthday party, city-wide women's conference,
and baby shower I attended.

Because I truly love the people I was with. But something had to give. So I did the minimal amount of housework required by the health department.

And the Christmas decor just sat there, mocking me, reminding me that I really don't have time to be a blogger.

But I LIKE blogging...and everyone and everything that goes with it.

So if you can pretend I didn't tell you about Christmas decor...and just continue to leave an encouraging comment or drop me an email from time to time, I promise I'll get the Christmas stuff to the garage before March 30.

Now, please excuse me. It's time to make a bite of lunch, load the dishwasher, pack some Christmas items away, do some laundry, and get ready to begin the day an hour earlier tomorrow morning!

P.S. - I ALWAYS tweak my mantels. Several times. This one has already been tweaked. I didn't like how the cool antique bed display thing cut of the chalk board lettering, so I've tweaked it.

P.P.S. - EVERYTHING (except greenery) was purchased at thrift stores, and probably painted white if it wasn't already white.

Word for the Day:

But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

SO PRETTY! Love it all :) I'm still laughing about the "minimum amount of housework...required by the health dept." haha I'm right there with you...work full time, sometimes 6 days a week, so I don't have time to be a blogger either. But, like you, I love it!
By the way, I have had the whole weekend off, and have only done the minimum :)

Hello Revi! Your mantel is lovely and I enjoyed a lot your post as I felt totally identified with your words and feellings...so difficult finding time for the blog when one works full time but...blogging is fascinating, isn't it?

Revi, Thank you for your admission of Christmas still being amuck in the next room. Mine is with yours, taunting me as I pass by on my way to some other commitment. Love your mantle.

Everything looks gorgeous. I love the chalk board. : ) I've been in a decorating funk.. I set my dining room table for easter and I hate it. I was thinking that maybe this week I will take all of the furniture from the dining and living rooms and rearrange everything. I need to freshen things up. Oh.. if it makes you feel any better, I do have some Valentines stuff to put away .

SImply lovely, Revi! Your mantel has just enough green on it to make the white truly special.

He is risen indeed!

You've got mantel style! I say toss that Christmas stuff into a box and shove it outta sight. You have a lot to do and so little time for yourself. I'm with you on not having time to be a blogger. Yet, I can't seem to drag myself away. Oh well, who says we have to blog constantly. When you blog, you blog with style!

you and I and blogging have something in common. Just barely got the Christmas lights down, but the "Happy Valentines Day" banner is still hanging up. I never realized how much blogging would magnify my procrastination. It's a blessing and a curse!

Your mantle looks so pretty and springlike! You've motived me to strip down my mantle and decorate for spring using nothing I've used before. And maybe a little white paint is in order!
