Snow Angels and Other Frugal Finds

5 days ago, we had a blizzard. Today it was sunny and warm. In fact, tomorrow is supposed to reach 75 degrees F!

In spite of the warm weather, we still have LOTS of snow. I snapped the photo outside, wearing only shirt sleeves.

The cherubs above were part of my latest haul from Jack & Greg's. I love how they mirror each other, but not exactly.

Of course, they'll get the white paint treatment.

Here's another find on more snow - or "snirt" as it is becoming.

Would you have purchased this iron candelier for 2 bucks? What about the orange plastic flowers? I think my grandmother had some like this.

Of course, Rosemary or Angie would probably have a great idea for how to use orange plastic zinnias and make something totally cool from them.

As for the candelier, I much prefer it sans the orange plastic blooms.

Jack and Greg don't quite get it...that rust is a GOOD thing. Hence I get this stuff cheap. They even put things aside for me. Like this...

...oh, so LOVELY brass art deco doorknob plate. I wish I could see the door it once adorned.

And this rusty whatchamacallit...

All rust aside, it still functions perfectly. Now, I just have to figure out how to use it. I'm fairly sure it will become part of an art piece. I just have to make time somehow to DO art pieces.

A single vintage glass doorknob. This reminds me of the amazingly cool one I was blessed with recently via Tina's giveaway.

The gold finial above is newish, but it was .50c from Jack!
Lord bless him for having such an opposite style from mine. This is a classic case of opposites attracting.

Of course, this finial is being painted a shade of white ASAP.

This cake stand caught my eye...it would be great for a cloche...or even a cake. :) Isn't this an adorable detail?

Of course, it will be painted...white, too.

If you read my last post, you already saw this piece...

2 bucks was the price Jack quoted me. I don't think I mentioned that before.

This tiny frame was included in the final price.

Often, they just quote me a "one price for all" deal after a while. I collect a pile of things in which I'm interested, with prices quoted. At the end, they usually knock off a bit.

This whole stack was $10 - plus I brought home another $4 purchase I'll show you later. Plus tax, of course.

Word for the Day:
Matthew 17:24-25
The Temple Tax
24 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” 25 He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?”

Oh my, that's a nice haul. Such classic pieces. All worthy to be called treasures. How fun that he doesn't like what you do. That's perfect! The doorknob and doorknob plate are my favorites!
