Over 25 years ago, I found this Sparklett's Seltzer bottle
in a thrift store in Houston - the Purple Heart.
They were bringing it in from the pricing room,
and I grabbed it before they could even get it on the shelf.
I think it cost $5 - which was and is still a price I rarely pay for a small item. It was so cool
with its wire mesh covering and heavy glass. I was reminded of old Marx Brothers films...
It may be from the 1920's. I've seen them on Ebay for $50 - 100. This one has everything
except the original CO2 cartridge case. I've used one from a new seltzer bottle, and it works!
More recently, I found a couple of glass decanters. They were $1.91 each.
I liked them. You don't see them often, so I grabbed them. When my daughter came home, she saw them and said, "I like these..." So, I knew they were cool. I like it when she admires the thrift store treasures I find. I also like it when she asks me to help decorate her home. It's a nice way to be "mom" to grown-up children.
I remember seeing bottles like these - filled with colored water. They were
sitting on a ledge of a Pharmacy my mom frequented when I was a child.
I don't usually keep spirits around the house. I used to keep a few things around -
mostly to use in special recipes. When my boys became teens,
the bottles were suddenly mysteriously empty.

I gave what was left away, and haven't ever re-stocked.
Since the look of these items will work well in my living room,
I think I'm going to have a "bar" area.
I'm also thinking a nice rum cake would be a tasty Easter dessert...
PS: These photos were taken with my new Nikon Coolpix.
I'm still getting used to it, but so far, I think my photos are better!
It cost $119 at Walmart. It has 16.0 megapixels and 7x zoom.
It also has a touch screen.
Some days, I definitely feel like Jane Jetson...
Word for the Day:
Luke 12:18-20
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones,
and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I’ll say to myself,
“You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you.
Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

Hey! It looks like you've had a great weekend. Hummm. I was just looking old bottles on line yesterday evening. I wasn't looking at the ones with the chain, though...just plain. You've got a great start for your bar area.
Sounds nice getting to help with home decor for your daughter. We are still working on chemistry.

I love all your vintage barware! It's so trendy right now...I've been considering setting up a bar cart in my home as well, even though I rarely drink. The glassware is so pretty to look at!
Love then first bottle, what an usual piece. Great barware pieces, and really are in right now. What a great start to creating you bar area. Thanks for sharing your inspiration at Sunday's Best.
Your bar ware is really nice! I have one of those old brass and glass bar carts and some decanters, too. (I don't even drink!) I just like the look of them. Thanks for sharing with us at WIW.
Hugs,
Patti
I love hitting the thrift stores right as they're bringing out the goods. Some of my favorite finds have never made it to the store floor. They went straight to my shopping cart. ;)
Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday.

Great finds; I have some glass decanters almost like yours (bought at a thrift store too); thanks for sharing your treasures!
Those are super cool! Thanx for coming to THT!
