I am officially a metal-urgist. I get these urges to buy metal things with patina, rust, wear, dents, age showing...
Here is a recent find - just as I found it:
It looks rusty in the photos, but not so much in real life.
It is a lovely shade of silver with warm tones...like it once may have enjoyed a shiny silver existence.
Years, oxygen and unknown forces have mellowed this piece to a mysterious luster that can only be acquired by age and experience.
I am much more attracted to this piece today than I would be if it were in it's "like-new" condition. Go figure. You probably understand this...
UPDATE: I just remembered yet another reason why I like blogging. Two VERY SMART and thrifty girls recognized my thrifty treasure as Italian Tole. Thanks to Donna and Linda, I feel somewhat more intelligent now. And I think I like my find even more!
This may or may not be its new spot for the immediate future...since I am getting itchy to bring out all the industrial things I stashed away last fall...and go crazy industrial in the living room for a while! I am not even sure how it will look, but I know I'd love it if you checked back to find out!
Meanwhile, take a look at these features from Thrifty Life Thursday #6 last week!
Paula from Locksley Lane shared a beautiful French chair she completely revised.
She was going to sell it, but opted to keep it after falling in love with it. Good call, and lovely job, Paula! BTW - Paula is a new blogger. Stop by and share some blogger love by following her!
Denise at Second Time Around Finds shared a wide range of vintage finds with us, my favorite of which was a collection of PINK Pyrex and Fire King dish ware!
Though it is not my personal style, I find it TOTALLY charming. (My MOM would love this. She's a mid-century minded gal to the heart.)
Linda at Coastal Charm shared her shop space redo with us. Honestly, it was so pretty I had to keep scrolling up and down to make sure it was not a studio redo in her home!
Charm indeed. Does this make you want to rent a trailer and drive to Mobile, AL, and load up all her goodies? She just reworked her whole shop...and you know how buying or selling something calls for a bigger redo than you ever imagined... Linda also has a fun Tuesday party I hardly ever miss!
