Dani's Garden Part Two

Last week, I had a mini-vacation, otherwise known as house-sitting for my
sweet friends Dani & Jerry. I was there to feed baby carrots and green beans to Sadi,

apples to the squirrels living in their Swiss Family Robinson style abode,

and cat food and water to a stray wild cat and her kitten who'd been
hanging around. Dani has the softest heart in the world!

While enjoying their lovely, comfy home, I also got to spend plenty of time
in their lovely garden. The front is lovely flowers and decorative things,
but the back is all that and more! They have herbs, veggies and interesting
plants you don't see every day. Here are a few examples:

How about this giant aloe vera plant? Have you ever seen one this big?
Below are straw flowers. They feel like straw.

Have you ever heard of a "pregnant flea plant?" I think it's a type of sedum.

Below is a close up of "the fleas."

Look at this adorable arrangement of cacti!
See the old bed spring in the rusty enamel pan planter?

I love the whimsical feel of it. There's plenty more whimsy.
This was a mother's day present to Dani. Isn't she adorable?
She seems happy on the patio.

Don't you just love this adorable
white chippy metal cart with driftwood on it!

But don't think this is all just whimsy - there's serious gardening going on here!
Jerry and Dani have raised vegetable gardens! Here's squash...

And beans that have just sprouted this week!

And beans that have just sprouted this week!
There are tomatoes and bell peppers. Have you seen
this type of planter before?

I was welcome to pick and eat what was ripe. I did have some tomatoes...

They also grow artichokes, asparagus, herbs and other tasty things.

And when I saw the big fennel plants, I asked Dani if she ate them.
She said, "I grow them so butterflies can lay their eggs in them."

Sadi enjoys hanging out in the garden, too.
She's probably hoping to find some of her favorite treat of baby carrots!

The large back yard has beautiful flowers and
charming vignettes everywhere you look.

Larkspur...

Primrose...

Hanging baskets, flower beds, everthing is just lovely!

As lovely as this garden is, this is no "show garden."
It is a garden that is loved and tended by Jerry and Dani.
They are so full of the love of Christ that it just spills
out of them both onto everyone around them.

Love is evident in their lives and in their garden.
They till the soil, plant seeds, feed and nurture, tend it well.
They enjoy the process, and they enjoy the fruits of their love.

And they share their blessings.

Thank you Dani and Jerry for a lovely week
filled with more blessings than I imagined.

Word for the Day:

Matthew 13:23

As for what was sown on good soil,
this is the one who hears the word and understands it.
He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case
a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

I dream of a garden like this. Years and years and I cannot do it. Why I ask Why?
