Rusty Crusty Thrifty Finds

What the heck are these things?

Wheels? Part of a pulley system? IDK, but they are pretty cool.
They are rusty and heavy. I think they'll make great pillar candle holders!

What do you think? A little scrub with a wire brush, maybe a clear coat...
Can't get much more industrial than that!

What about this little terra cotta pot?

I LOVE the shape of it. Very French.
It's probably going in my bathroom to hold Q tips - it's small.

Last but not least, the piece de resistance du jour:

A crusty little table/stand thingy.
So crusty, you can barely read the price of $6.96.

If I were a bettin' woman, I'd say this has been a plant stand.
And somebody probably over-watered her plants.
And killed 'em dead. Like me.

Well, I may not be able to save the plants,
but I can sure save this little plant stand/table!

Just wait and see...

Word for the Day:

Matthew 6:19-21 (the Message)

"Don't hoard treasure down here
where it gets eaten by moths
and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars.
Stockpile treasure in heaven,
where it's safe from moth and rust and burglars.
It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is,
is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.

May your treasure be exactly where it should be.

What fun! I love them all! The first two do look like pulley thingies and will be even more fabulous with a clear coat. : ) (I've been having a lot of fun clear-coating rusty goodness)

Thank you so much for your sweet comment about my mirror today.

God bless you!

I love rusty finds. The first two look like they were from a pulley system. My favorite is that wonderful little pot.

How do you do it? Work full time and get to the best bargains in town. Those metal things looks like part of a weighing scale like I remember as a kid at the feed mill we use to get our corn grounded for the cows at. I couldn't really tell how big they were.

Dear Ravi,
I first visited your blog a few days ago and loved the colors you used for your spray paint.
Now I've been through your posts and I have to say I love what you do and believe there is much for me to learn from you.
I also appreciate very much the fact that you share the Scripture with your visitors.
So of course I became your latest follower :)
Looking forward to see more from you.
Thanks for sharing.

I say they look like pillar candle holders...ha ha ha!

No seriously, they look like rope guides or cable guides... you know to keep them from getting hung up?

Do they have holes on the underside, like for bolts?

interesting. The table is cute too.

try succulents, that is what I'm going to do-- they don't need near the water of regular house plants...
have a good one, Pat

I love rust. lol I often just clean and seal rusty pieces. It give them great depth. Love your pulley pieces, and the pot. Yep, I'm sure the table was a plant stand.

I love trying to figure out what stuff is. My husband bought me some rusty bookends for my birthday and we searched all afternoon on the net trying to identify the Indian figure on the sides of them! It's all part of the mystery.

Those two things remind me of cleats ( I think that's what they're called/spelling?) they might have come off a boat and could have been used to tie up a boat?????
