It's Still Fall...

...and I'm still painting things white.
Actually, this vintage chalk ware urn was already painted a glossy cream, and I've used it without doing anything to it.

But I always knew it could look better...and a little older. I do not know why I waited - it took half an hour to update it with a coat plaster paint in warm gray and a dry-brushed top coat of white.

I found these creamy yellow-white gourds recently for .10c each, and the spanish moss was .50c for an unopened bag at the thrift store. Every time I use it, I think, "This is SUCH a mess. Why do I use it?" Then, I love the gray wispy effect it has...

Since I had plenty, I put a few in the bird cage as well.
I took the chamber pot away...it just bugged me.

I added my urn of gourds, which I'll dry and use again in future years.

I probably should have bought more, so I could fill my antique wagon again next year.

Yes. I like it better than the chamber pot. Much better...

I am preparing for Hannah to come for Thanksgiving - she hasn't been home since July. I hope Ethan and Mason will be able to join us, too.

Ethan has a near-Thanksgiving birthday, so we have lots to celebrate!

Word for the Day:
Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.

Middle Bedroom - Vignettes of the Finished Parts

Welcome...to the longest "quick redo" of my life - AKA the MIDDLE BEDROOM.

Yes - I thought it would take a few weekends - TOPS.
But I was mistaken.

Maybe I've had a few unforseen events. And possibly every piece of furniture I began with has been replaced at least twice...

Seriously...I have alternated in identifying with Goldilocks, and the Princess of The Princess and the Pea. (Maybe that's why I decided to add green accents?)

But wait...they started out as turquoise accents, until I remembered it was fall...

...and winter was coming...and I have this really cool patchwork velvet throw in lovely shades of green, and dark green velvet pillow shams...

So the turquoise lasted about a week, and was boxed up to hibernate until spring fever hits. It should be a fairly easy switcheroo, since I'm keeping the basic stuff neutral.

But that is months away. And now, it is fall. I love fall.

So my darker greens came out. They still work with my bird and garden theme.

I added a few more things to a small gallery wall opposite the foot of the bed.

I painted a French caned ladder-back chair white.

It fit nicely on the wall between the east entrance and the closet, next to the mystery crate-box to which I added legs, painted antiqued silver and most recently painted white. It holds bed linens and functions as a table.

The vintage luggage underneath is filled with vintage linen pieces - crocheted, embroidered, lace, etc.

All in all, I'm happy with the way the room is looking, it is just taking a lot longer to get there than I ever imagined it would.

At the very minimum - the following list is things that are still waiting to be done:

  • Finish padded headboard
  • Hang curtain rod/curtain
  • Sew duvet & dust ruffle
  • Paint French chest of drawers
  • Stage north wall
I have hope it will be done and cozy before guests arrive at Thanksgiving! Beyond that, I'm not putting any time frame to any of it. :)

Word for the Day:

Romans 5:3-5

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
