Recently, I've found some pretty cool things at the thrift store...for instance this metal rose.
It might be a paper weight because it's heavy. It has a stamp on the bottom that says, "Wallace." The finish could be tarnished silver. I have done a bit of research, and haven't seen anything like it. Does anyone have any clues?
I found two clear glass insulators at Julie's garage sale a couple of weeks ago. I knew I wanted to use them in the living room, and then I remembered seeing some of them lighted on Pinterest...
...and remembered I had stashed away a little lighted base, which was also a thrift store purchase. So, I married the two. LOVE it! I was hoping to find a cluster of crystals somewhere, but this works. The whole shebang was less than two dollars.
Months ago, I found this box made from a ruler. At the time, I had no idea what it could be used for - it is very shallow.
When I was pulling out all the junk I hoped to use in this living room revision, I found it to be a great size and shape to hold my collection of vintage keys.
Features from Thrifty Life Thursday #38:
First up, check out Joan from ScavengerChic (and do you just LOVE that name?)
She took a very ordinary medicine cabinet, and turned it into a beautiful trumeau mirror!
Pinned it. Whenever I get around to doing my back 3/4 bathroom, I'm so doing this!
Sandi from The Vintage Cupboard found inspiration at World Market, and made the "fresh baked pies" sign using an old picture frame glass she was going to get rid of. Check out her mini tutorial, and don't forget to show us what you do.
Jonni from Minnie's Milestones created the sweetest Halloween vignette ever. If you're not a fan of classic spooky decor, be sure to check out her pastel interpretation of a "Merry Halloween" on her stair landing.
Link Party Hiatus
My ox has fallen.
This week, I made the decision to put the weekly Thrifty Life Thursday link party on hold for a little while. I need to scale down blogging activities a bit, and get a handle on some things around the house.
If you saw my house at the moment, you'd wonder why I waited so long...
Not that the party takes up a ton of time, but it takes several hours per week.
Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, and then Christmas. I want to be ready, and able to enjoy these times with my family. Every hour of preparation counts.
Thrift store shopping and will also be on hold for a while...hopefully not too long!
I do plan to continue to post once or twice per week.
Thank you for keeping the party on your back burner for a while...
Word for the Day:
Luke 14:5
And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?”
