Seven Things to Do With a Rusty Rake

Those of us who love old houses love them for a variety of reasons.

My house is old - not as old as some in which I have lived, and older than others. It was built in 1945.

One of the great things about old houses is: finding cool stuff left behind by former occupants.

Case in point: The old rake head I used as fall door decor recently. (In case you are counting, this is #1.)

The super-cool chippy aqua one was a left-behind as well. It is next in line for a fun bit of re-purposing. I decided to check out Pinterest to find out what other creative souls had done to give their rakes a new life!

Here are some of my favorite examples:

#2-rake as linen and flower basket holder - from

#3-rake as wine glass storage - from

#4-rake as jewelry organizer - from

#5-rake as photo display area - from

#6-rake as garden tool organizer - from

#7-rake as vintage key display

Word for the Day:
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I like your chippy aqua one best, but would like to hang garden tools from one on my back patio at well. So far I haven't wanted to tear mine up, then when I see one at a garage sale, I forget I want one. Heaven knows there are so many things I want to do. :) Cute post!

So strange - you did not even mention raking leaves! I am laughing because I have an old rake hanging on the shed door. I caught my husband raking with it and was horrified he had abused it that way. Love the aqua rake - I can see great things in its future.

Cool rakes, Revi! At my previous home I kept an old rake head on the fence with a flower basket hanging from it. You shared lots of great inspiration!

What a great round-up! Your post title caught my eye because I am on a quest to find an old rusty rake, myself, to use as a necklace organizer. I've had no luck with thrift stores, so I have my eyes peeled on Craigslist these days. Hoping to hap across more than one so I can try out more of these fabulous ideas that you shared!

Warmly,
Lauren
