Vintage Industrial Living Room - Where to Begin...

Teasing time is over. September is the month to do something different - a new beginning.Time to sing a new song...

I have loved this look for a while. I just never had the guts to go all out...until now.

Where to begin...
  • Remove all the aqua accents and cottage-type things. (Those will go to the bedroom I'm tackling when this is done.) Stack them on the dining room table.
  • Take everything off the shelves, tabletops, mantel, etc.
  • Pack away accessories and lamps that won't make the cut for the industrial elegant living room.
  • Spray paint a lamp in mustard colored Rustoleum...my fall color accent.
  • Move cottage furniture out, bring in pieces from other rooms.

  • Paint 2 French chairs...and a partridge in a pear tree.
  • Rearrange other furnishings.
  • Take everything off the walls. Fill nail holes and touch up with wall paint.
  • Bring out all the gold frames...make more faux antique mirrors out of glass.  Pile them on the sofa and anywhere else available.
  • Work for about 8 hours, while cleaning the kitchen and gathering stuff that might possibly be used...then snap a few bad photos before the light goes.
As of this moment, my house is a big, hairy mess, but I'm still excited.

My vision for this living room and dining room:
  • Keep the overall look light, but use dark wood and black accents, along with brass, gold, bronze and rust - with tons of gold mirrors!
  • Vintage industrial furnishings and accessories
  • Vintage French-inspired furnishings and accessories
  • Keep new and "faux" industrial pieces to a minimum.
  • Keep silver and zinc to a minimum.
  • Keep things real and live-able.
  • Use mostly what I already have, with a few new items.
  • Make or seriously revise a couple of things...
  • Mix fancy and rough in creative ways.
It is quite possible this could lead to a gigantic fail, but I will never know until I try. In any event, all I have to do is change it again. But enough talk about failing...I think this is going to be amazing!

I promise to post vignettes as I progress...

Word for the Day:
Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.
