Simple Project, Simple White Vignette, Simple Solution

You probably have one.

You know, one of those Pinterest boards.
Simple projects you want to try.
You even have the stuff to do it...

This is one of those projects.

I had these frames in the hoarding garage.
They're nice, chunky wood frames.
They just needed a little paint
and something to go inside them.

I had that, too. Hardware wire.
And I had a staple gun.

I painted the frames a nice
off-white shade of flat latex.
It was a mis-tint sample pot.

I left some of the original paint
on each frame, and just painted
parts I didn't care for. I left the
trim & linen inserts as I found them.

I will use frame to hang earrings.
I love this simple solution for keeping
earrings sorted, paired and easy to
find when I get dressed!

(Now, I need a solution for scarves...)

The other frame will become part of
a vignette...maybe a Vignette to Go!

This is not a finished product,
but it illustrates a point I made earlier:

Successful vignettes contain interesting
vertical and horizontal elements.

Here's a vignette without a
vertical element...

Not bad. There's a nice primitive wooden tool box...

Some deconstructed vintage books,
a nice chippy-vintage cream pitcher,
and a shabby mini bird house.

There's a variety of texture -
shiny and matte, rough and smooth, etc.
Not bad.
But it still seems like there's something
missing - until you add a vertical element.

 Even without the bird house,
it looks complete after the frame
is added behind the composition.

To really complete this vignette,
ephemera, photos or keys could be
attached to the wire. That would finish it off!

I'm still working on my idea...not giving up yet.

If it doesn't work, I'll have a
pretty decent garage sale!

Plans, plans and more plans.

Decisions, culling, paring down.

Sorting, stacking, painting, etc.

I've been doing this for a year now.
I'm looking forward to finishing something!

Word for the Day:
2 Corinthians 8:10-11
10 And in this matter I give my judgment:
this benefits you, who a year ago
started not only to do this work
but also to desire to do it.
11 So now finish doing it as well,
so that your readiness in desiring it
may be matched by your completing it
out of what you have.

  1. Yes, I do indeed have a board like that. I want to make one of these for my everyday earrings, etc. that I throw down on the vanity instead of putting in the jewelry box. I just can't walk that extra 10 ft. LOL
Thanks for all the tips- xoxo, T.

  7. Hi Revi, I have a smaller frame in my walk in closet that holds a bit of jewelry. They really work well. Yup, must have the vertical. The eyes need to look up. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    Hugs,
    Jann
