Living Room in Progress...

A sneak peek, just because I've made you wait so long...

There is still so much to do - paint the little black table...

finish "staining" the chest...

address the upholstery on the sofa,
and the Martha Washington chair...

and there's a whole other wall accross from the main
seating area that needs attention...

and the mirror over the fireplace needs to be framed,
and the mantel needs to be dressed properly,

and the red window and front door need to be neutralized...
and there are more small details to finish, but all in all...

I am enjoying the process...

and my new "look" is similar to what I imagined last year
when I began making a mess in my whole house.

And that makes me happy.

I hope you're having a happy beginning of the week, too.

Word for the Day:

Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die,
for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.

  1. Ok...first off, with all the neutrals, I sort of like the red window. A lot!
Second...ah, your room looks dreamy. I love the new couch with all the exposed wood. Love the basket of candles in your fireplace,AND! the wood floor. It all looks wonderful to me. Very light and airy. ~Pat

  2. You have a lovely home. I like all the textures you've brought in to give life to the white scheme. Is one of your chairs upholstered with an old flour sack? If so, that is awesome!

  4. Girl friend that picture of the desk in front of the window and that dresser area ... looks like something out of a magazine I kid you not. Then the chair that you just think needs recovering it's to die for. Love, love. I think the chair is really good.

  5. I had to come back after your email...and just look at this room again. I love your collage wall. That first photo of the couch and wall, and shelving... looks like magazine quality for sure. I think you did a great job on the open shelving; painting them to look metal, primed grey... great treatment. They make the space on either side of the fireplace really stand out.

  14. It look great! I like the way you pull this look together. So refreshing to see a room that everything hasn't been painted white. It has contrast and lots of personality!

  15. Your room is coming together beautifully! And I know that feeling, it always seems like there are a few more things left to do. Not sure if it's ever really done!
