I have a "thing" for gallery walls. They intrigue me in a variety of ways!
I love a little something unexpected, and they offer that in spades!
I love it that you can assemble deer antlers,
a vintage Souvenir de Paris,
house numbers and thrift store mirrors
and somehow make it work.
Gallery walls tell more about who we are,
where we've been and what we like
than any single art piece can do. They are
as unique as their makers. No two
are ever exactly alike - just like fingerprints.
At least that's what Ky told me.
She's making herself at home on the new sofa.
I have a piece of plastic floor cover on it that
deterred her for a while. Now, she's ok with it.
I enjoyed hanging things on the wall this week.
So much that I also did another little gallery across the room...
It's not finished and won't be for a while, but I have kept you in suspense
for so long I decided to show you some progress this week!
If you look closely, you'll notice items from
my garage as well as recent thrifting adventures.
UPDATE: Several friends reminded me in comments
another reason I love gallery walls: they are able to evolve.
Just like our lives are added to and changed, so are they.
We can tweak one part without changing the whole thing.
Soon, I will be experimenting on the sofa - something I've
seen other bloggers do. If it doesn't work, I'll redo it.
Check back this week for more living room details!

I like collage or gallery walls too! I was just tweaking mine in our bedroom the other day.
ReplyDeleteI should take a picture of it...I moved some things and added a couple--I like it!
I like yours for a couple of reasons...1- the little mirrors (I have some too) 2- the letters and numbers. I like ephemera and signage!
--have a great sunday!
You should link this to Sunny Simple Life--it's her first blog hop! This is perfect--Simple!

Good morning, I want some of those antlers on my wall somewhere. I do like the personally that shows up in your gallery wall. Fun, unexpected and adventuresome.
ReplyDeleteRevi your wall is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove the combination of variety.
Hugs from a cold South Africa
I love it too! So fun to see the bits and pieces put together to say something big! Will you eventually cover the whole wall? I'm leaning toward doing this in my florida room or on the wall by my front door since it's pretty well nearly covered as it is. Did it take you a long time to decide where to put everything. That's my trouble. All the deciding.

:D I wondered where you were going with the finger prints.....I love it when people's homes reflect who they are, so I agree with you about gallery walls...

Hi Revi,
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your gallery wall! I was going to do a wall of mirrors but now I don't know,... I love the variety of things you have used. It looks great.
Big hugs,
Patti
Thanks for the kind words, re: the map and the loft and me looking like a college kid. Ha! Obviously you forgot your glasses! That's okay. I prefer the whole world go without glasses when in my presence. Soft focus is the only way to go these days.
