First, SORRY about the missing link...to the Thrifty Life Thursday Link Party...I feel like such a ditz...even though my blonde hair is from a box.
I thought I was doing ok getting it done late, but I forgot one of the most important parts...the link to the party.
Instead of doing it at this late date, I'm skipping this week until Wednesday night, and we'll have a redo of #14. That gives you a whole week to find new stuff, make it beautiful and finish whatever else you might be working on!
Now, I'm calling on all my wise friends out there who know antique stuff much better than I do - like Linda and Donna, who identified a piece of Italian Tole I found at a thrift store without even being asked.
If you have any clues about the piece photographed in this post, I'd love to know! I found it at the same thrift store where I found the Italian Tole.
My limited knowledge base has guessed about it...but I may not be on target. Here's what I think:
It is an art nouveau inspired candlestick.
It appears to be old, but it might be a reproduction.
I have not found any marks on it. I only found one of them (for .27c) which Hannah did not think was cool. I bought it anyway.
So, tell me, any ideas? I love a mystery - especially one with a happy ending. Is it worth more than .27c?
Word for the Day:
1 Corinthians 15:50-52
50 I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

HA...That's funny Revi...I'm glad you forgot the link because honestly I thought I was just to ditzy to find it!! No luck with me knowing what your item is but I hope you find out! Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteLove this piece Revi. Is it extremely heavy for the size? Looks bronze to me but should be heavy if so. So unusual ... surprised it is not signed. Hope someone can identify it.

Revi, your piece looks very interesting! Hope you can solve the mystery! :)

No idea at all! I know you'll do something great with it.
ReplyDeleteHi Revi ... more info. I suspected it was a vase that had a glass insert, so contacted a friend who know a heck of a lot more than I do.
ReplyDeleteShe says...This pretty piece is an Art Nouveau style vase. Form is a lily/daffodil,flower anyway.Art Nouveau liked the Spring flowers and they were used a lot in designs of that period. It is missing the glass insert that would have held the flowers. The missing glass is quite common for the age. Originally, I am sure there was a pair. Guessing the size...7-8 inches. Very nice for a Thrift.
Hope this helps you and your readers.Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
absolutely have no idea. But a candlestick might be right
