Hannah and I have been shopping - we have always been recreational shoppers together - it's "what we do."
Tuesday afternoon and evening were so much fun! Hannah and I visited antiques stores, thrift stores and consignment shops looking for furniture for her future house. She will be relocating from Houston to Oklahoma City!
She treated me to dinner at a gourmet pizza cafe, where we enjoyed a pizza with bacon, goat cheese, jalapeno peppers, and candied almonds! For those of you who like sweet and hot together like I do, it was FAB.
The most fun thing of all was spending time with Hannah. We like the same kinds of things - visually and food-wise.
I marvel that I was able to grow this woman I would choose to have as a friend if we were not mom and daughter...
Thank you, God! You gave me the desire of my heart. If I could have chosen her from a catalog or have had the wisdom and creativity to designed her, I would have done exactly what you did. :)
OK - enough mushy mom stuff!
What do you think of her vintage typewriter table? We couldn't find a price on it at first, so we had to ask, and the nice lady called the booth owner. $25 AS IS.
Hannah immediately said, "I'LL TAKE IT!!!" I, being the mom, said, "Let us take a closer look to make sure it is sturdy, etc..."
It was sufficiently sturdy, and the chips were nothing a little dark walnut stain and paste wax couldn't fix. LOVE the wheels and the metal industrial parts. This little table could be used in a variety of ways - arms open or closed. We loved it!
Sorry for the awful photos - they were taken in the abyss that is my hoarder's garage...in relative darkness.
Feast your eyes on the features this week!
Julie at Renaissance Mermaid created a charming and unexpected spring vignette using a bird nest in an urn (LOVE IT!), a bird in the hand, and other charming elements.
Donna, one of my favorite pickers from Distressed Donna Down Home, showed some wonderful porch palings. I didn't know that is what they're called, so I learned something new while salivating over her vintage finds. She also has a great Etsy Shop, where I purchased a very cool item I will share in the not-too-distant future!
Doreen from Altered Artworks created a clever new note center using a thrifted frame, chicken wire and a printed burlap coffee bag! It is highly adorable AND functional.
Your creativity and style are always a delight!
I appreciate your joining this small party, your encouragement and your sweetness. I am humbled and inspired!
THRIFTY LIFE THURSDAY #10
This is a gathering for people who enjoy hunting for treasures
that may have previous experience or lived a former life elsewhere.
Please share items that are second-hand or are composed of second-hand materials.
Types of Posts to Share:
- Home decor, furniture, collectibles, garden items and even wearables are welcome, as long as they have a second-hand element.
- Please, no food items, new pieces from "real" stores, or crafts, unless made with upcycled thrifty finds.
- Hand-me-downs and curbside finds are welcome, as are items found in thrift stores, garage sales, antique shops, flea markets and other interesting places.
- Treasures may be listed as you found them, or with your updates, tweaks, and re-purposes; befores and afters are both welcome.
- Items need not be "vintage" but must be pre-owned or second hand.
- Posts including Etsy and other shop links are welcome! For visitor enjoyment, please link to your blog post, not directly to your Etsy shop.

- Please link your post (not your blog address) back to Revisionary Life.
- Please visit at least one other party friend.
- I'd love for you to comment and introduce yourself if we've never met before. :) Otherwise, don't feel obligated to leave a comment.
Features:
- Featured items must meet the criteria above.
- Only posts that link back may be featured.
- I will try to email you and let you know if you were featured!
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Just saw your wonderful feature over at Must Love Junk! I enjoyed learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteWow, Revi, thanks so much for the feature!!
ReplyDeleteLove you shopping story. I also have a treasured relationship with my adult daughter. We're very lucky :)
Love your "features" Revi. May help me get in the mood to do some Spring decorating. Love Hannah's choice of the typewriter table too ... they make great night stands. She is a smart shopper. I have one almost identical and I believe it has a tag on the bottom of one side leaf that says "property of the U.S. Government" ... now it is my property.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures

Thanks so much for featuring the porch palings - they are now wearing their feature button. Love the links - I have been sneaking over between chopping down the ice storm damage. See you!
