Tweaking the Fall Tweaks - Neutral Fall Mantel #2, etc.

I knew before I had even finished taking photos of my first fall mantel of 2014...tweaks would follow. It was a bit...well...rigid.

I had no idea WHAT exactly, just that something organic and flowing and soft was needed to liven up the mantel.

Then, there was the hearth area. It needed something more, too.

I actually intended to use these dried flowers in a basket on the hearth, but then I thought they might be just the ticket for the mantel...

I had recently found two clay pots for .50c each, and knew they might work in my symmetrical arrangement.

A bit of floral foam, Spanish moss, and my dried flower and twig arrangements added that finishing touch!

At least, I think it's finished...

The hearth area sort of came together as well.

On the left side, my 7 table, topped with a metal charger, and a vintage bird cage.

A painted pumpkin from Dollar tree sits inside the bird cage on a mound of Spanish moss.

On the right side, a trio of over-sized "finials" balances the composition.

The "finials" are actually found objects, transformed from a variety of components, painted white to unify them. I plan to share more about them in my next post!

Word for the Day:
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

  1. Your mantel looks ready for fall! the dried foliage really does soften the look. I have the hardest time arranging mantels and could spend hours working on one only to take everything down and start over again. :)
