Little Changes - Front Window

Yesterday, I spent hours tweaking my living room.
I hadn't really planned to do it, but
you understand how one thing leads to another.

Here's a peek at the primitive table that
sits in front of the front window.
It's the one that keeps the dog from
getting through the window to
the post man. Seriously, she cracked a pane!

There's a crackled glass lamp, painted
with a soft silver spray paint and fitted with a
pretty gray embroidered shade - from Walmart.

Next to the lamp is a new iron stand
in which I placed a vintage chippy croquet ball.
It was a perfect fit!

It makes me want to buy more of these stands.
I see them at thrift stores for pennies all the time!

A tarnished silver plate two-handled cup
now holds a child-sized croquet ball,
instead of silk greenery. And next to it,
a cup with antique dice  - some made of bone
and some made of vintage plastics.

There is a wire container, rescued from a thrift store.
I found a bundle of them, and bought all five.

I removed the rickety bamboo lining the tops,
and now they look more industrial.

Vintage books and faux greenery fill the basket.

To the right of the basket sits a trio of
mismatched candlesticks.Two styro pumpkins
from Dollar Tree, painted off-white, and a dried gourd
are perched on them, offering a little nod to the season.

A tarnished copper bird box sits guard over them.

Aside from tweaking this vignette, I painted several
small pieces and tweaked other areas. I'll show you
more photos of those changes next time!

Word for the Day:
Daniel 6:10
When Daniel knew that the document had been signed,
he went to his house where he had windows in his upper
chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his
knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks
before his God, as he had done previously.

  1. I love your table. The items you've chosen for it are so pretty. The croquet ball on the stand is so eye catching. It all looks great in front of the window.

    Have a great week!

  3. Hi Revi... love the way your table looks decked out for fall...game night! :)

I see those stands all the time. I've never EVER bought one. But now I wish I had. I have an old CANNON BALL found out in our field near the barn years ago...by my boys! I could sure use one of those now! Thanks for the idea.
I've seen baskets similar to yours too--but didn't buy them because of the rattan wrapped around them. Never dawned on my to strip that off. You're such a clever little decorator.

...see, I don't even know what your day job is, but I think of you as a decorator! :)
heard there was snow in the panhandle this weekend. Did you get any?

  4. Love how everything came together. I am now following you,and grabbed your button.

Rarely buy a lotto ticket, and if I won would still go to thrift...I cant resist the hunt of the thrift stores, much better then the "known" at regular stores!

  8. Loving the table in front of your window. You might not realize it but for winter I though of putting our buffet in our front window, but I thought it was a decorating no no. Seeing yours I know it isn't! I love how everything is displayed! Thanks for sharing your inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
