Rearranging My Industrial Elegant Cottage Living Room...

Immediately after posting photos to show you my progress
and still how much I have left to do in my living room -
I changed furniture arrangement. Of course. But I like it better now.

The photo above is the wall opposite the fireplace, and directly
in front of the rustic chest I spilled stain on and liked it.

When I showed it to you before, the Martha Washington chair
was next to the sofa I need to upholster. It looked like this:

I had placed Martha at a right angle to the sofa,
as I have had her in arrangements before.

And a tufted iron bench was on the wall behind her,
next to an antique chest I had stripped.

That wall looked so bare and unfinished, I didn't show you up close.

But immediatly after posting, I saw a better way.
Isn't that just how it goes? All of a sudden, it was apparent
that I had Martha in the wrong spot.

So Martha just swapped places with the bench.
She's so thoughtful that way. I love her versatility.

And I think the little bench placed here opens up the whole room.
And Martha adds a little height and coziness to the wall with the chest.

This wall still needs to be accessorized.
And it will probably change again
before it's all said and done.  And believe me
when I tell you there is still much to do...

But I'm not worried. It will get done when it gets done.
I just want to enjoy the process, and life in general.

  3. I don't remember noticing the bench before, it is amazing. I just love it, and you're right, it is so open this way! I'm glad to hear that Martha's time in the nude has made her so mellow and easy to get along with. It does take time to arrange our things just so. The more there is, the more possibilities. You could be arranging for eternity!

  5. Oops, I tried to comment and forgot I was logged into a work account instead of my personal one. In case it didn't come through I just wanted to say how comfortable and welcoming it all looks, and how gorgeous that steamer trunk is!

  6. Hi Revi-
The room is coming together so nicely. I like that tufted bench a lot-- even the color seems to work in the room.
Now, I'm confused-- were the 'crazy windows' in this room? or in another room? Sometimes I try to get my bearings while looking at homes...and it's hard to do.
I think your room looks great!
