Les Petites Oiseaux

Have you noticed the abundance of birds lately?
Not Alfred Hitchcock type birds - decorative ones.

All but one of my birds was captured at a thrift store.

This pretty little bird is made of copper and it is actually a box.
I love birds. I love boxes. Win/Win. Especially for $3.

This little pair was plucked from the shelves of Goodwill.
The larger one was $2 and the smaller $1.

They're solid brass. I bought a pair for my daughter, too.
It seemed appropriate.

This little iron bird was a gift from one of my favorite people ever -
my aunt June. I had told her I wanted an iron sparrow.
She surprised me with this one on my last birthday.

I love this bird best of all. It has special meaning.
The reason I wanted an iron sparrow in the first place
was because a certain scripture had spoken to me.

I hope it speaks to you in the same way...

Word for the day:

Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny
Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.
30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

  1. Birds and boxes yes, yes, and more goodness. But the iron bird you know by now that is my favorite one. Thanks for the reminder of God's promises. I need reminding daily.

  4. I've noticed a lot of cute little owls the last couple of years-have you? Your birds are very nice--great deals, too! I thought about that scripture verse just last week. I was on my morning walk and there were a couple of sparrows that prompted the thought.

  7. I'm crazy about birds myself, Revi! And I'm blessed to not only have a number of faux ones, but scores of the real deal - flitting about the outside of the cottage daily.

Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday this week.
