Thrifty Vintage Finds to Sell...

A sweet milk glass bird on nest lidded dish - vintage AVON. I almost didn't buy it, not knowing the market for Avon stuff, but it's so adorable! 

A pretty white shell dish from 1984, marked Shafford Original MCMLXXXIV

A very cool and heavy basket with three smaller baskets inside. 

I love how the pieces are notched in like fine wood furniture!

This one may get a coat of paint, unless someone lets me know they want it as is ASAP...

A cool but simple brass planter. Timeless.
A lovely brass and possibly silver plate candlestick

It's hard to tell in the photo above, but the thin neck of the candlestick is a darker, cooler, metal. 

I love the patina on this one, as well as its delicate form.

A wall shelf/crate. This one will definitely get a paint job.
Last, but not least...a very charming early 1970's piece in perfect condition!

Though it is not my personal style, I am charmed by it.

And it's lined in calico...

I think I had a shirt made out of that fabric in Jr. High...

I hope to list all these items on Etsy this weekend!

Thrifty Life Thursday #3

Ah, the joy of thrift store treasures! 

I know people who wouldn't EVER go into a thrift store...
and that is totally OK with me.

More good stuff for us, right?  Especially if it costs .87c!

Or even better if it costs .75c, and it is half price day!

Like the two silver plate dishes...one of which is engraved.

Charm costs .38c...so I'm all in. Give me a tube of hand sanitizer for the car, and I'm good to go!

Now, for the features from last week's party...sorry I had some technical difficulties. I hope they're fixed now!

Linda shows her collection of cool vintage jars, and the items inside literally made me drool like Pavlov's dog.

Lynn shared a tutorial on planting succulents in a variety of cool vintage containers!

I have a brownish-black thumb, but succulents are tempting...especially when they're potted so creatively.

"Junk Joy" from Distressed Donna Down Home:

This "self-proclaimed rust goddess" has an eye for cool vintage...and she made a terrific haul of cool stuff in this post. That tea bag thingy looks like something from Downton Abbey...

January/Winter - Vignettes

How to do January/Winter decor...do you go with the stark grays and whites that decorate our outside spaces?

Or do you keep the reds or greens from Christmas to add a bit of warmth?

I keep the winter whites and greys in my home...except for my middle bedroom that has a good amount of green, and one very dark den, filled with reds. I spend much of my time in there at the computer or on the sofa under a fuzzy throw watching Netflix. 

I considered adding in some green or maybe even lilac to the living room, but opted to stay with the quiet neutrals... 

I am still not tired of it, still not ready for too much change.

Give me a little texture, a little sparkle, a little rust...and I'm a happy girl.

I still change things around...I still switch out accessories and small pieces of furniture often. 

But you know what they say...

 If it ain't broke...don't fix it.
