The wall color is the same gray with wood trim and both rooms have the lovely hardwood floors.
The drum pendant is leaded glass - black, gray and white. It was happily already in the home.
She stained an unfinished wood harvest table in onyx stain. The table was a Craig's List find two summers ago.
She purchased two wonderful metal candlesticks at a consignment store earlier this year. LOVE the patina.
There are 4 chairs - ones I bought years ago at a thrift store. They were really cheap - 10 bucks each at most. They're not the best quality, but they served a purpose back then. They sat in my garage for years and through a garage sale without selling. I even tried to give them to my sons...
We were pretty glad they didn't sell so Hannah could use them now at least until she finds some she really likes later.
They were free, basically. A coat of gray paint by me and some cute fabric seats by Hannah, and they'll be good for a while. We found the fabric at JoAnn's.
This chest of drawers was a recent Craig's List find. Hannah was shopping for a wider piece, but this one was reasonable, and a piece like this can be used in a number of ways. Meanwhile, she's still looking for a buffet. This piece is just as she found it - and may get a little makeover at some point.
For now, it is a nice place for a funky vintage lamp in brass, with a black drum shade we found at Ross on my last trip.
A collection of three vintage brass mirrors hangs above a brass tray and pewter goblets - all from thrift stores.
Silver plate coasters are ready for guest drinks.
Keeping the mixed metal theme going, a collection of oval trays with lots of patina hangs on the wall to the right of the chest.
The top one was found at a garage sale this past weekend in OKC. The center one is from my neighbor's garage sale...I considered keeping it!
There is a hall doorway to the right of the platters. To the right of the doorway is another small wall that needed some art.
I found this really nice black and gold wood frame with a print at a thrift store last week.
It held a vintage art print, which I took as-is, thinking it might be usable.
Hannah opted for new art instead of the print, so we bought some mustard, charcoal and white paint at Hobby Lobby and I painted while we watched Netflix. Just like home...
I painted right on top of the print. It is not quite as bright in real life - more mustard than bright yellow...
I totally forgot to photograph the other side of the room - the wall that the fireplace is on in the living room. There are double windows on the wall. Two short walls dividing a breakfast room Hannah uses as a "bar" area on one side, and the living room on the other side.
You can see the leather art pieces that hung in my house in this photo:
Here they are again, before going to Hannah's house:
She can invite friends for dinner, and I think she's planning to host her boyfriend's birthday party soon. :)
Word for the Day:
Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
