Old Baggage

Luggage. Grips. Suitcases. Whatever you call them...we all have it.

Our baggage can offer us a means to carry our stuff with us when we're not at home. It can also hold odd assortments of stuff with which we aren't yet ready to part.

These days, much baggage we see is soft -
made of some heavy fabric or vinyl.
And it is much regulated for air travel.
One must consider size, weight, etc.

This guy wouldn't pass muster.

But I have plans for him.

With those lovely details and the charmingly shabby, rusty patina, this guy will probably end up doing what he's apparently done before. He'll be great - an old hand at it.

He'll be used to store my art and craft materials in my future studio. Though he probably won't advertise it.

My friend, Mr. Clean, will magically erase all traces of his past experience.

On the other hand, this Denver girl will probably be used on a book shelf in my room. She's petite - just the right size.

Her soft turquoise will work well with other items I've gathered or painted recently.

She was very grimy when I spotted her. Though she's not entirely pristine, Mr. Clean has had his way with her.

Last week, he stopped by for a visit. It happened in a dimly lit room while watching Netflix. You can see, he needs another visit.

On the inside, she's lovely. But she has been well used, and it shows. Still, the girl has her charms. And she has plans to be useful as well.

Just like all of us, her usefulness makes her feel much less empty inside.

Word for the Day:
2 Timothy 2:21
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use,
set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house,
ready for every good work.

  2. Ha! I loved this.
I need Mr.Clean to come to my house and bring his friend Betty...Betty Crocker! While they're here maybe they could get in touch with Suzie Homemaker and get some of these project knocked out!

Me? I'd like to take an extended vacation...someplace tropical, bask in the sun, or maybe soak in a tub of calgon and wash my cares away!

  3. Love the suitcases! I have a blue one similar to yours, but it's bigger. The green one has so much character! And to think, we used to think these things were old and ugly not that long ago!
