Frugal Fifty Cent Finds for a White Christmas...

This weekend has been really good.
One of those weekends where you have a list
of everything you want to accomplish...
and it ALMOST gets done.

It began on Friday...
I took a half day off work to
go with my parents to a
doctor's appointment.
We went to breakfast afterwards,
then I had some time to kill,
so I stopped by a couple of thrift stores.

I know, I know. I've "sworn off" shopping
thrift stores until I purge some of the cool
stuff I find that I don't plan to use.

But, I was looking for something specific:
WHITE CHRISTMAS items.

What do you think of those three
new mercury glass goblets? .57c each.

This little cutie caught my eye, too:

It's broken, but for my purposes,
it is perfect. So is the price.

50c was my magic number on Friday...

Each of these angels was .50c, too.

This American Art Pottery piece was a steal at
you guessed it: .50c.

It will hold a tree or pine cones, or ornaments, or
SOMETHING this Christmas! Love the shape.

Keeping with my theme, I thought this piece
might also hold something seasonal now...

It will get a coat of white paint on the metal base.

And yes. The magic number again.

Lastly, this piece is not so much a

Christmas piece, but it will be used
on a Christmas buffet for sure!

That gold has already received a coat of

creamy ivory paint. My napkins will be stylish!

I've been working all weekend...still no

"finished" photos yet, but I'm getting close.

Very soon, you will see some of these
items in use in my living room and dining room!

And yes, Liz. :)

I painted the wall in my dining room!
And as I was painting, I thought of how nice
it would be to let you know I'd done it.
Thanks for your encouragement...
and for your example!

  1. Working all weekend is just as much of an accomplishment as finishing is! Someone told me a few days ago that finishing something just means starting something else so don't be too hurried to finish or you'll be just as rushed to start! :)

  2. Woo hoo! Bravo! Congratulations! I can't wait to see your painted wall. It's good to know that while I accomplished only part of one project all weekend, plus a few gift buys, you were getting things done! Glad I could be of "nagging assistance". :)

I love all the items you found this weekend too. I am betting your white Christmas is going to be spectacular!

  3. Great finds, Revi! My favorites are the milk glass piece on the pedestal (soap dish maybe?) and the napkin holder.

  5. I love those finds! And isn't it amazing what a coat of white paint can do? I'm sure they'll look beautiful in your Christmas decorations, and beyond. I found you over at Cowgirl Up! Have a great week!
