Orb, Revised...

The orb I found for a buck at Julie's
last garage sale was nice as it was...

But in the interest of lightening up a bit,
a coat of ASCP French Linen was applied.

And after that, a bit of dark wax
in the form of shoe polish.

Yes - shoe polish.
Applied oh so lightly...with
the same little applicator brush
used to apply it to shoes.

Hey - it never hurts to
experiment. And I am a
big believer with doing what
you can with what you have.

Kiwi was the brand I had.

This is not where the orb will stay.
I need to find another stand...
maybe even a bigger one.

And I will definitely give shoe polish
another shot on other types of painted items.

Aren't we always seeking
new and budget-friendly ways
to feather our nests?

Word for the Day:
Luke 11:9
And I tell you, ask
and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you.

UPDATE:
Orb Lands on Coffee Table/Trunk

I had the stand already. Yay!

  1. I have a big tin of Kiwi and Esquire shoe polishes in different colors for finishing pieces. If there are any of the brushes at estate sales, I buy them. I love this orb.

  3. I love orbs. What a great deal you got on your orb too. Where did you find such beautiful stands? They are amazing. I wish I would have thought about using shoe polish instead of investing so much for the Annie Sloan Wax. Great project!

  4. Good idea using the shoe polish! You can't beat making something you have on hand work like that. I love the orb and all the little goodies you have there on your table by the window. Such a sweet scene. I wonder what will find a home with you next!
