Do you know what the heck
this three-legged thingy is?
I bought it yesterday for a buck
at my fave little thrift store.
It is rusty steel, and it has
a hook to hold something.
I wonder if it is something that was used
to hold a little kettle over a ground fire?
Some of you (Lisa? Pat?)
know what all kinds of things are.

My neighbors have something similar in their yard. It holds a big black pot that they have filled with flowers. Not sure if that was its original purpose or not. Interesting thingy whatever it is!

Sorry...no help. I agree with Dawna though...a lantern would look cool. Oh, you could wrap it with chicken wire and make a cloche...

ReplyDeleteIt might have held a bell or gong at one time, that was hit with something to call people to dinner. It doesn't look big enough for a cooking pot, but maybe that's just the picture and that was its original purpose.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these for sale before. You are to put it over a campfire with a handled pot to heat beans, etc.
