Can you post some photos of the details you loved and kept, and some of the reclaimed changes you've made too? I had friends in Houston years ago who had done that sort of thing in their home. In that climate, they were able to use some materials that are normally used in green house construction - and it had a lovely light in their home. It was an unusual but magical place I'll never forget. Another friend had a traditional cottage on the outside, and inside, where there used to be ceilings, the space was opened up and steel cable like is used in bridge building was used for structural integrity. There were traditional elements and sort of modern/industrial elements in the same environment. It was light and airy, and still cozy. I LOVE juxtaposing contrasting elements - old and new, rough and refined, etc. The tension is stimulating!

Later,

ReviRevihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03118538206780122093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3133880622852492921.post-52061120559401583662011-08-25T11:45:23.113-05:002011-08-25T11:45:23.113-05:00Thanks! And...Congrats on winning that lovely piece of Art! And what a cherished Memory to go along with it. I Love Treasures with a good story attached to them, it makes it even more interesting and sentimental.

Thanks for stopping by my Blog, alas, all the "Before" Photos of our Home were taken before I had a digital camera, but it was in a condemned state and ready to be razed by the City when we acquired it... so we truly Saved it and the important History of this property, which had a fascinating Story and was built by a very prominent citizen. It has been a Labor of Love and we're continually working on it, since it predates the City it is located in by over 20 years there isn't a lot of documentation of it in the early years, so we assume it was circa 1920 or thereabouts and was once part of a grand Ranch that a neighboring City was named after. I Love it, its quirky just like me... *winks* and was built entirely of Salvaged Materials so its very eclectic in Styling.

Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn...
