Counting My Blessings - Gifts of ALL Kinds!

Sometimes I really "get" the verses about being overwhelmed with blessings...live and in person.

This past week was such a time...

First, a sweet friend with a nice corporate discount offered to extend it to me for a rental car in which to drive to Dallas.

Second, Cathy insisted on paying our mutual friend back, and allowing me to pick up the tab on a few meals in Dallas. Needless to say, the meal portion of the deal did not come close to Cathy's gift...and I was blessed with some wonderful, tasty meals in our travels all over the heart of Texas!

Next, a sweet blog friend who wishes to remain anonymous, gifted me a Dundee Marmalade crock! I've admired them for ages, and had decided to buy one. Lately, I've been perusing Etsy for them, and the ones I choose always seem to be from Europe...which translates into mega-buck postage, so I had not yet indulged my fancy.

It was such a sweet surprise...and when it arrived, I unpacked it and found it wrapped up and tied with two vintage rusty keys! Icing on the cake, I tell ya.

THEN, I open my email to find I had won a painted canvas from Linda at Itsy Bits and Pieces!

My heart is so full...I was abundantly blessed with an amazing long weekend with a long-time friend I love, which included a trip to Canton Trade Days ( on my bucket list), a trip to Ikea, and pretty much anything I mentioned that I might enjoy doing. I think the only thing we did NOT do is sit still with our feet in her pool...

Thank you, sweet, generous friends who have kind hearts, amazing taste and generosity that just floors this fifty-something single woman.

Thank you, God, for lining up all these blessings so I know that I know that I know they originate from you. I am reminded that you know what and who I love,  and you delight in reveal that to me from time to time.

I get it. I am loved. I am grateful. My heart is so full...

Word for the Day:

Thrifty Life Thursday #34 - A Day Late - with Features from Last Week!

Now that it is September, I think I can officially begin my "Heavy Industrial with Mustard on Fancy French" thing. Tomorrow night can't come soon enough!

No, it is not a sandwich, rather a living room redo.
Collecting for this project began months ago.

My self-imposed rules are:

Vintage Industrial - more than I have ever used.
Think rusty metal, authentic stenciled crates, steel, bronze, brass.

Fancy French - gilded gold, preferably. Maybe painted in white or gray.

Authentic - as much as possible, use real, not "fashion" items. I do have a few things...but most are the real deal.

Try to use items "new" to the space, not necessarily new to me. Move them from other rooms, or shop my hoarding garage.

Incorporate Mustard and Black.

I found the items above last week at the same thrift store...the clerk said, "It looks like you might have a theme going here..." I told her she was correct in her assumptions. The fabric is a long tablecloth, which may end up any number of places. It cost $1.91...

I am so excited, I could get up right this second and go into the living room and begin a new gallery wall!

But, first, you must see the fabulous features from last week's party...

Brooke from Creative Country Mom is feeling the call of fall, too. She shared a charming vignette with thrifty finds, including BABY shoes! How wonderful is that?

Donna from Distressed Donna Down Home has been a busy girl...and she shared a quirky cabinet revision that was awesome, but the thing I wish I could grab and hoard until I win the lottery and buy a cabin are these adorable green shutters on her shop "front porch."

Dianne from Deanie's Stash has been a busy girl, too. She found a stash of cool vintage furniture at a farm sale, among other things, and shared her painting frenzy and lots of "after" photos.

It was hard to pick a photo, you'll just have to visit to see the cool stuff, but seriously, who of you would NOT like a pink tool box?

Things are getting busy, and I'm considering changing the day I post this to another day of the week...or weekend. Any thoughts?

      the Day drawing near.
